Lime Cleared of Infringing Mobile Lock Patent in E-Bike Suit

Lime has beaten allegations in a Washington federal court that it infringes a patent covering a mobile lock.

The electric bike and scooter-sharing platform in 2020 acquired Jump, Uber Technologies Inc.’s bike-share business. Mobiloc LLC filed a lawsuit in October, alleging certain Jump bikes infringed its U.S. Patent No. 8,854,207, covering a mobile lock with a retractable cable.

Judge Barbara Jacobs Rothstein in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington said in a ruling Thursday no reasonable juror could find Lime infringed.
