Life360’s Tile Gets Judge to Toss Lawsuit on Tracking-Tag Patent

Tile Inc. convinced a federal judge in California to dismiss Linquet Technologies Inc.’s patent-infringement lawsuit over tracking-tag products because the patent’s representative claim “is a quintessential abstract idea” that “simply implements the concept of tracking objects using computer technology.”

Judge James Donato previously found the patent “lacked an inventive concept because the claims used conventional elements and components ordered in a conventional way,” according to an order issued Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
