A South African court has ruled in favor of
Discovery alleged Liberty had acted unlawfully when it used data collected from external wellness schemes, such as Discovery’s Vitality program, to offer a similar product to customers.
In its judgment, the High Court in Gauteng found Liberty’s actions didn’t amount to a trademark infringement or unlawful competition and that the data ultimately belongs to customers, the insurer said in a statement.
