Liberty Tax Denied Rehearing in Ex-Franchisee Injunction Effort

Liberty Tax won’t get a federal appeals court rehearing of its unsuccessful bid to keep former franchisees from operating in locations where they did previously under the company’s brand name.

JTH Tax LLC, which does business as Liberty Tax Service, sued to block the ex-franchisees from reconstituting as Rocket Tax at four former Brooklyn, NY locations. Liberty had terminated its agreement with the defendants for allegedly filing improper returns, according to its April 2022 trade secrets suit complaint.
