LG’s Bid to Pause Sonrai Smartphone Patent Suit Shot Down

LG Electronics Inc. can’t pause patent infringement claims over its LG V60 ThinQ smartphone while an administrative tribunal examines the validity of the underlying patent, Judge Alan Albright in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas ruled.

In a Monday order, Albright said that proceedings would continue on Ireland-based Sonrai Memory Ltd.'s claims that LG infringed its US Patent No. 6,874,014, which covers computer chip architecture, despite LG’s pending request to join an already-underway invalidity review at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
