LG Electronics, Inc. should pay closely held Core Wireless $1.3 million for infringing one patent and $2.2 million for a second patent, each on wireless communications, a federal jury said.
The jury’s verdict was announced Feb. 28 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
The jury in 2016 had decided infringement, and the judge ordered a new trial on amount of damages, said Marc Fenster of Russ August & Kabat in Los Angeles, one of the Core Wireless lawyers.
The patents were essential to industry standard for 2G and 3G communications, Fenster said.
