LG Says Hisense TVs Infringe Its Backlight, Wi-Fi Patents

Hisense Electric Co. was hit with a suit by LG Electronics Inc. in the Central District of California alleging Hisense’s TVs infringe several LG patents, including patents for backlights and Wi-Fi.

LG owns U.S. Patent Nos. RE46,795; 10,334,311; 9,271,191; and 7,839,452. It says that Hisense television features including backlights, input switching, and ways of displaying program information infringe the patents. The televisions’ Wi-Fi capabilities also infringe LG’s 802.11ac standard-essential patents, it says.

Hisense also induces its customers to infringe by instructing them on how to use the TVs in an infringing way, according to the complaint.
