LG Electronics Hit With Lawsuit Over Media Distribution Patent

LG Electronics USA Inc. is facing a lawsuit in the Western District of Texas alleging it is infringing on a patent for a system for updating media content, by means of an application, installed on the end user’s computer or other electronic device.

The plaintiff, Media Key LLC alleges LG is violating its US Patent No. 7,606,876, entitled “Media Keying for Updateable Content Distribution,” according to the complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

LG is “making, using, offering to sell, selling and/or importing,” products that infringe the patent, the complaint alleges.
