LG Accused of Infringing ‘True’ Trademarks by Refrigerator Maker

LG Electronics Inc. allegedly infringes refrigerator maker True Manufacturing Co.'s trademarks by using the word “True” to advertise a line of kitchen appliances that includes refrigerators, according to a complaint filed Friday in Chicago federal court.

St. Louis-based True Manufacturing says it has been making refrigerators and freezers since 1945. True says it owns 19 federal trademark registrations covering “True” and related terms for refrigerators, including “TrueFlex,” “TrueTrac,” and “True Ice.”

The complaint says LG has been using similar terms to advertise refrigeration products associated with its “Signature Kitchen Suite.” LG has been using the terms “TrueFit,” True Partner,” “True ...
