Three defendants ordered to pay Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard and Smith LLP a collective $1.5 million in statutory damages in a trademark infringement case over appropriation and use of the law firm’s name plan to ask the Fifth Circuit to examine a Texas federal judge’s ruling.
Defendants Michael Joseph Bitgood, Susan C. Norman, and Bradley B. Beers filed a notice of appeal regarding the Sept. 13 order in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Monday. They will seek the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit’s reconsideration of Judge Keith P. Ellison’s damages awards.
