Levi’s Sues Farm Rio Brand Over Trademarked Tab on Jeans (1)

Levi Strauss & Co. is suing the companies behind apparel brand Farm Rio for allegedly infringing its iconic clothing tab trademark.

Levi’s filed suit against major Brazilian fashion companies AZZAS 2154 S.A. and Grupo de Moda Soma S.A. as well as Swiss-based Soma Brands International GMBH. The companies, which operate the brand Farm Rio, make, promote, and sell clothing that infringes and dilutes Levi’s famous tab trademark, the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California said.

Levi’s has now brought three lawsuits for clothing tabs this year.
