Lego Sues Toymaker for Alleged Copyright, Trademark Infringement

Lego A/S alleges in a new lawsuit that the copyrights and trademarks in its Minifigure figurines are infringed by an educational toy company’s products.

Figurines in Lakeshore Learning Materials’ construction toy sets are confusingly similar to Minifigures, Lego said in its complaint filed June 10 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.

Lego owns copyright and trademark registrations in the Minifigures, which it has been selling since 1978. Lakeshore’s construction toy sets include figurines that are confusingly similar to the Minifigures, Lego alleges.
