A leaked version of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement draft text that was released by Knowledge Ecology International Sept. 5 reveals that the ACTA parties have removed language forcing internet service providers to monitor their subscribers’ internet usage.
The text, which is dated Aug. 25, no longer contains a provision that would immunize ISPs from lawsuits based on blocking access to pirated content and websites or implementation of policies to address unauthorized transmission of materials protected by copyright.
