Dawn Dorland Perry can keep pursuing copyright claims against fellow author Sonya Larson for allegedly misusing in a short story a letter that Dorland wrote to the recipient of her kidney donation, a Boston federal court said.
Dorland donated one of her kidneys without directing it to a specific recipient, and the organ was given to someone who would have otherwise had no living donor. She wrote a letter to the recipient and posted it in a private Facebook group about her experience, where her close friend Larson was a member.
