Lashify Wins $30 Million in Artificial-Eyelashes Patent Suit (1)

A Chinese company owes beauty start-up Lashify Inc. more than $30 million for infringing its patents by importing and selling similar artificial eyelash extension kits, a Texas federal jury determined.

Qingdao Lashbeauty Cosmetic Co., doing business as Worldbeauty, infringed Lashify’s three patents, according to a Friday verdict in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

The jury determined Worldbeauty owes $30.5 million in lost profits and $3.6 million worth of a reasonable royalty, with a royalty rate of 30%, for willfully infringing US Patent Nos. 11,219,260, 11,253,020, and 11,234,472. Worldbeauty didn’t prove the patents ...
