Larisa Love Hair Care Products Beat Trademark Infringement Suit

A woman lost her lawsuit alleging infringement of the name of her hair care line, because she registered her trademark two years later than the alleged infringer, the Ninth Circuit affirmed.

Larisa Kopets and Lara Kajajian sell hair care products under the names “Larisa Love” and “Larissa Love,” respectively. Kopets registered her “Larisa Love” mark with the US Patent and Trademark Office in 2016. Kajajian claims that she began using the name “Larissa Love” in 1997 but did not file for federal registration until 2018.
