KFC Drops ‘Original Recipe’ Trademark Suit Against Rival Church’s

KFC Corp. told a Texas federal court the fried chicken giant will dismiss its trademark infringement lawsuit against rival Church’s Texas Chicken over use of the slogan “Original Recipe.”

KFC informed the court Tuesday it “hereby dismisses this action without prejudice,” leaving open the prospect of a new complaint.

Neither company responded to emailed requests for comment.

Church’s Texas Chicken, formally known as Cajun Operating Co., began using the “Original Recipe” trademark to promote its competing fried chicken brand on Sept. 30, according to the complaint filed Nov. 8 in US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. KFC, ...
