Netlist Patent Claims Could Be Invalidated, Tribunal Signals (Correct)

Samsung Electronics Co. convinced an administrative tribunal to probe the validity of two key patents held by Netlist Inc., and the memory and storage device company’s stock price hit a 52-week low Thursday morning.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board agreed Wednesday to review claim 16 in Netlist’s US Patent No. 7,619,912, which covers a memory module that can be connected to a computer system, finding that an examiner incorrectly ruled out a prior art reference. Samsung “has shown a reasonable likelihood” that the claim will be found invalid, the board said.
