Karma Nuts Inc. accused a business run out of a Michigan home of selling infringing “Karma” snack products online and through Walmart, with plans to expand.
Karma Spices and Trading Co. sells popped water lily seeds and other snack food products under the Karma brand name, the Monday complaint in the US District Court for the Northern District of California said. Both companies’ products consist of various flavors of artisan single-serving, premium-priced snacks marketed as healthy alternatives to fried and sugary offerings, so consumers will likely perceive a connection, it said.
