Rapper Kanye West, known as Ye, impermissibly “riddled” track on his latest album with unlicensed samples from a 1994 song, a Tennessee federal lawsuit said.
Musicians professionally known as Criminal Manne and DJ Squeeky, as well as the estate of KILO G, said West’s “Fuk Sumn” copied parts of their “Drink a Yak (Part 2),” in a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. They said West and Ty Dolla $ign infringed “numerous vocal and compositional elements” in “clear, intentional infringement” of their 30-year-old song.
