Juul Sued by Billionaire’s SwissX Over E-cigarette Device Patent

SwissX, founded by the billionaire soda bottler Alkiviades David, said Juul’s e-cigarette device and disposable JuulPods infringe its patent for its cartomizer, which replaces the separate cartridge and atomizer components with a single integrated component.

  • SwissX, which sells hemp-based products containing CBD, is seeking cash compensation for infringement that occurred at any point since the patent’s issuance, other than during a roughly seven-month period in 2020 when its enforceability temporarily lapsed, according to a complaint filed Friday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
