Juul Labs Drops Patent Infringement Case Against Competitors

E-cigarette company Juul Labs Inc. dropped patent infringement claims pending in the District of New Jersey against competitor Eonsmoke LLC and other vaping companies from China and Uruguay.

Juul voluntarily dismissed its complaint April 17 without prejudice after failing to win an emergency preliminary injunction two days earlier.

Juul alleged in a March complaint that New Jersey-based Eonsmoke, Uruguay-based ZLab S.A., and Chinese companies Ziip Lab Co. and Shenzhen Yibo Technology Co. infringed Juul’s design patents, engaged in unfair competition by selling illegal and unapproved vaping products, and misrepresented themselves as being affiliated with Juul.
