Justin Bieber is facing claims in Los Angeles federal court that his 2019 song 10,000 Hours infringed the copyright of The First Time Baby Is A Holiday, a song first written and recorded in 1980 but released in 2014.
Melomega Music, which owns the copyright to First Time Baby, alleged that the melodies and chorus of both songs are “practically identical.”
The complaint said that 90% of a core 47-note sequence is identical in both songs, and 72% of notes of the pitch sequence in the main verse are the same.
