An error in a Massachusetts federal court’s jury instructions over patents for tamper-resistant plastic containers prompted an appeals court to toss the verdict’s invalidity findings and order a new trial on the issue.
Inline Plastics Corp. failed, however, to win a judgment that the five patents asserted against Lacerta Group LLC aren’t invalid, according to a precedential opinion issued Wednesday by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The court also rejected Inline’s arguments for a new trial on infringement.
