Juniper’s $5.9 Million Fees Award Upheld In Patent Appeal

The Federal Circuit on Monday cleared Juniper Networks Inc. to receive a contested attorneys’ fees award of $5.9 million, preserving a ruling that patent owner Finjan LLC’s conduct in its failed infringement case was “exceptional.”

The panel summarily affirmed California federal District Judge William Alsup’s order that Finjan pay more than $5.9 million of Juniper’s attorney fees in what he labeled a “fiasco” that “wasted a great deal of everyone’s time and energy.”
