Judges Affirm MV2 Escape From Bulletproof-Panel Patent Lawsuit

MV2 LLC cemented its win in a patent suit brought by competitor Leading Technology Composites Inc. as the Federal Circuit affirmed a lower court’s finding that its antiballistic panels don’t infringe.

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Tuesday rejected LTC’s arguments that the district judge misconstrued its US Patent No. 8,551,598, which relates to a type of armored panel designed to resist bullets and other projectiles, including near the edges of the panel.

LTC’s appeal centered on the relevant patent claim’s preamble, which reads, “An armoring panel for resisting edge impact penetrations by ballistic projectiles.”
