An Alabama judge dismissed several patent-related claims that were part of a larger lawsuit that CoachComm LLC, a leading maker of headsets for football teams, filed against Pennsylvania-based rival Westcom Wireless Inc.
The Alabama suit preempted by two months a separate complaint filed by Westcom in a federal court in Pittsburgh. Both lawsuits allege false advertising by the other company and both make mention of Westcom’s US Patent No. 11,165,551, which was part of the company’s marketing pitch, according to filings in the Alabama case.
