Judge Connolly’s Patent Case Funding Probe Frozen by Fed. Cir.

Patent owner Nimitz Technologies LLC for now won’t have to turn over financial information to Delaware federal Judge Colm F. Connolly while he probes any funding sources buoying the infringement cases its filed.

The Federal Circuit on Thursday froze Connolly’s order that Nimitz disclose documents including bank statements and the content of litigation-related discussions, a day after Nimitz filed a mandamus petition to halt the court’s “judicial inquisition” that it said seeks to access privileged information irrelevant to the patent cases.

Connolly’s Nov. 10 order “is stayed pending further action of this court,” the Federal Circuit wrote.
