Jimi Hendrix’s Brother Sanctioned Again Over Trademark Use

The brother of famed rock musician Jimi Hendrix must cease using his name in violation of a July injunction or face fines, a New York federal court said as it found him in contempt of court.

Leon Hendrix and his daughter, Tina Hendrix, knowingly sold Jimi Hendrix merchandise and used his name to raise money for the Hendrix Music Academy, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said Monday.

Tina said her organization is a nonprofit, but the court said the July injunction against Leon didn’t exempt charitable use of the late musician’s name.
