Japanese Game Maker Scores Against Pirates in Chinese Court

A Chinese video game piracy group was ordered to pay a Japanese game maker almost quarter of a million dollars for releasing copies of its games on the internet.

A Chinese court sided with Koei Tecmo Holding Co. Ltd. in the dispute, which involved five of its products, including a popular game based on the Chinese literary classic “Romance of the Three Kingdoms.” The judge ordered the piracy group 3DM to pay 1.62 million yuan (around $244,000) in damages and stop pirating Koei Tecmo’s games.
