J&J Facing Patent Infringement Suit Over Neutrogena Products

Johnson & Johnson‘s cosmetics brand Neutrogena is being accused by GlycoBioSciences Inc. of violating two patents for skin care products that contain hyaluronic acid, used for treating wounds and wrinkles.

Glyco said in the complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Maryland that its products use a stable polymer matrix to more effectively deliver the hyaluronic acid. After testing, Glyco determined that several of Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost and Rapid Wrinkle Repair products are equivalent to its patented formulas.

Glyco contacted J&J, but J&J has refused to stop infringing its patents, the complaint says.
