Italian Standards Body Gets Court to Toss Suit Over Prosecco.com

The Italian body that governs Prosecco’s geographic labeling convinced a federal judge in Virginia to dismiss a lawsuit from the owner of prosecco-related websites seeking a ruling that its domain registrations are valid under US law.

Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in a three-sentence order May 8 tossed Best Drinks LLC’s suit “for the reasons stated from the bench” at a hearing the day before.
