iStock Hit With Video-Privacy Suit Over Info Shared With Meta

iStockphoto LP disclosed the video-viewing history of consumers to Meta Platforms Inc. without their consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act, a proposed federal class action said.

Larion Krayzman alleged that iStock, an online seller of pre-recorded videos, installed the Meta pixel on its website. The pixel is a snippet of computer code that allowed Meta to track visitors’ interactions with the site, including information they typed into text boxes.

Meta used the information it collected to target visitors with advertising, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. ...
