Iran Owes US Troops, Relatives $573 Million for Role in Attacks

Iran is liable for harms incurred by US service members and their families from terrorist attacks in Iraq, a federal judge said.

Expert testimony stating that “each operation was carefully orchestrated by terrorist actors using intelligence, tactics, and lethal tools made possible by Iranian support” contributed to a finding of liability on Iran’s part, Judge Ana C. Reyes of the US District Court for the District of Columbia said in a May 30 opinion, granting the plaintiffs’ motion for default judgment against Iran.
