Invitae Accused of Patent Violation With Genetic Test Chatbot

Invitae Corp. was sued in a federal court in California for allegedly violating a patent with its Gia Chatbot, which collects information and walks patients through their genetic test results.

OptraHealth Inc. sued Invitae May 20 alleging the biotechnology company violated OptraHealth’s U.S. Patent No. 10,754,882, which protects a machine-assisted interrogation process that retrieves patients’ health reports. Invitae’s Genetic Information Assistant is an HIPAA-compliant clinical chatbot, according to its website.

The complaint says Invitae has been informed about direct and indirect infringement of the ‘882 patent since 2021, and that the defendant continues to “aid and abet” infringement by others. ...
