Intel-VLSI Can’t Mention $900 Million Verdict in New Trial (Correct)

A Texas federal judge ruled VLSI Technology LLC and Intel Corp. can’t tell the jury about prior patent infringement verdicts between the two companies during a three-day trial over Fortress Investment Group’s control.

Judge Alan Albright of the US District Court for the Western District of Texas told the companies Tuesday in a crowded Austin courtroom they wouldn’t be able to mention past verdicts. Most notable to this case is VLSI’s more than $900 million patent win in November 2022 concerning computer processor technology, which Albright explicitly barred from opening arguments.
