Intel Says Unclean Hands Bar VLSI Recovery in $2 Billion Patent Win

VLSI Technology LLC shouldn’t be able to collect on its $2 billion win in a patent suit against Intel Corp., the chipmaker says, arguing VLSI has “unclean hands” as a result of “unconscionable” litigation tactics and an unfair patent enforcement scheme.

Jurors in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas found in March that Intel microprocessors infringed two VLSI patents on power-saving and speed technology. VLSI was awarded $2.18 billion, one of the largest patent verdicts in U.S. history.
