Intel Calls VLSI CEO to the Stand in Trial Over Fortress Control

Intel Corp. probed VLSI Technology LLC’s executive leadership on the second day of a jury trial that could determine whether Fortress Investment Group controls the patent licensing firm.

Intel asked Scott Bain, VLSI’s newly appointed CEO, a series of yes-or-no questions about his role and relationship with the company’s board of directors. Judge Alan Albright of the US District Court for the Western District of Texas instructed Bain to give yes-or-no responses to Intel’s questions or ask the semiconductor giant’s attorneys to rephrase the question if he couldn’t answer directly.
