Injection Valve Patent Suit Against Mercedes Moves to Georgia

The intellectual property battle over a valve crucial in reducing emissions in car engines continues after an engineering company sued Mercedes-Benz in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia Monday to cure a previous lack of proper venue.

Westport Fuel Systems Canada said the automobile company infringed its high pressure fuel injection valve patents when Mercedes sold the Sprinter Model Van with a 4- or6-cylinder diesel engine, among other diesel products. The company seeks a jury trial and an award of declarative relief and damages, including at least “a reasonable royalty.”
