Inari Says Corteva Using Seed-Patent Suit to Stifle Competition

Corteva Inc.'s selective enforcement of its intellectual property rights, targeting startup Inari Agriculture Inc. while ignoring similar activities by other rivals, shows it’s using litigation to stifle competition and maintain its dominant market position, Inari said in a redacted court filing.

Though Corteva Agriscience LLC sued Inari alleging it unlawfully exported and modified Corteva‘s patented seeds for commercial gain, Corteva has similarly purchased and analyzed patented seeds deposited by competitors with American Type Culture Collection, Inari said Nov. 14 in a sealed response to Corteva’s second amended complaint in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
