In the News: Apple Patent Would Put a Ring on It

Apple Inc. has applied for a patent on wearable technology you can wrap around your finger.

Application No. 20150277559—published Thursday in the database of the Patent and Trademark Office—covers what Apple calls “devices and methods for a ring computing device.”

The device is a ring with a touch screen, computer processor, wireless transceiver and rechargeable power source.

With the the ring on one finger, the wearer uses a second finger to provide input to a touch screen, according to the application. Those cues are transmitted wirelessly to external electronic devices.
