Improving IT, Protecting IP Abroad, Priorities in PTO 2022 Plan

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office wants to modernize its information technology and better protect U.S. intellectual property rights overseas, according to a new strategic plan.

The plan, released Nov. 29, is a road map that offers a glimpse of efforts the agency will undertake in the next four years. It comes amid the Trump administration’s allegations that China is stealing American intellectual property and follows a computer glitch that took down the agency’s electronic filing system for 10 days.
