Impinj Gets Win in Patent Row Over Radio Frequency ID Technology

Impinj Inc. defeated part of NXP USA Inc.'s patent infringement lawsuit over components of radio frequency identification technology, when a Seattle federal court concluded that Impinj acquired the allegedly infringing materials from an authorized seller.

The Nov. 4 ruling by the US District Court for the Western District of Washington awarded Impinj summary judgment over claims involving three patents related to the thin silicon wafers on which integrated circuits used in RFID technology are fabricated in bulk.
