Court Clarifies Ban on Allegedly Stolen Genome Tech (Corrected)

A California federal court clarified an order blocking BGI Genomics Co., a Chinese supplier of DNA sequencing equipment, from marketing, selling, and using allegedly copied genome sequences in the U.S., concluding Illumina Inc. was likely to succeed on the merits of its patent infringement allegations against BGI.

Illumina sued BGI in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in February, alleging BGI infringed on three patents.

The court issued an injunction June 15, which it formalized July 8.
