iFit Inc. should get another chance to amend claims that Tonal Systems Inc.'s connected strength training device intentionally infringes two patents related to iFit’s competing NordicTrack Fusion devices and induces Tonal’s customers to infringe them, a magistrate judge ruled.
Tonal, which uses cables on pulleys for resistance and has a touchscreen control panel for customizing workouts, wants the allegations of willful and induced infringement tossed. iFit, known as Icon Health & Fitness when it filed the suit in May 2021, first amended its complaint less than three weeks after suing, adding the claims at issue in the magistrate’s report.
