IBM Sues Zynga for Patent Damages on Online Ads, Data Processing

IBM Corp. filed a lawsuit in Delaware federal court alleging that Zynga Inc. and its Chartboost unit built their success on unauthorized use of patented IBM technology related to optimized advertising and data processing.

IBM says Zynga’s games provide features to its users and to its developers within Zynga’s games, including advertisements, infringing three patents, according to a complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. IBM also alleges that the Chartboost advertising platform and its software development kit infringe one of those three and another patent.
