Hugo Boss Harassing ‘Boss’ Ammo Seller over Trademark, Suit Says

Hugo Boss AG used baseless trademark infringement allegations to bar Boss Outdoors LLC from selling apparel bearing its shotgun shells trademarks from an online retailer, a lawsuit in Michigan federal court said.

Boss Outdoors wants the court to issue a noninfrignement declaration because its registered “Boss Shotshells Unmuzzled” trademarks on clothes don’t confuse consumers, its complaint in US District Court for the Western District of Michigan said. Boss Outdoors’ products never use the phrase “Boss” alone, its logo’s design creates an entirely distinct commercial impression, and many other third parties also use “Boss” on clothes, the suit said.
