Huawei Told to Pay $10.6 Million in Optis Wireless Patent Trial

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. infringed five patents owned by Optis Wireless and PanOptis Patent Management related to wireless communications, a jury in federal court in Marshall, Texas, decided Aug. 27.

The jury also found that the infringement was willful, meaning the judge could increase the amount by up to three times what was established by the jury, according to a verdict form.

Huawei denied infringing the patents, arguing that they were invalid.
