Huawei Device USA Inc. must pay attorneys’ fees, in addition to $13 million for patent infringement, in its wireless technology patent battle with a patent licensing company, an East Texas federal district court has ruled.
Huawei’s litigation conduct justifies an attorneys’ fees award, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ruled. The decision is another triumph for Optis Wireless Technology LLC and its parent company, PanOptis Patent Management, which won a 2018 jury award, after the jury found that the Chinese smartphone maker had infringed its patents.
