HTC Owes 3G Licensing $9 Million in Telecom Patents Jury Trial

HTC Corp. must pay 3G Licensing SA nearly $9 million after a federal jury in Delaware found that its sales of devices that support LTE network technology infringe two telecommunications patents, capping a dispute that began nearly seven years ago and initially involved 12 related cases.

Jurors also found that the infringement was intentional, giving the judge the option to increase the damages to as much as triple the amount awarded, according a verdict reached Monday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
